President Kenyatta and deputy William Ruto have led Kenyans to mourn Kericho Deputy Governor Susan Kikwai who passed on Saturday after battling coronavirus for two weeks.
The President described Kikwai as a great servant who served the country diligently.
The Head of State recalled the period when Ms Kikwai served as the Managing Director of Kenya Investments Authority (KENVEST) saying she highly promoted Kenya as an attractive destination for foreign and local investment.
“Susan was a great public servant. While working for the National Government, she was instrumental in attracting various domestic, regional and international investments,” the President said.
DP Ruto said Kikwai was a humble leader who was an inspirational mentor to other women.
“She was a distinguished servant leader who transformed the lives of many people. We celebrate her accomplishments and the rich legacy that she leaves behind,” said Dr Ruto.
Baringo Senator Gideon Moi said Kikwai was an outstanding servant of the people.
“H.E Kikwai was a humble yet outstanding leader who diligently served the people of Kericho County. She was an ardent defender of Devolution because she understood its benefits in transforming the lives of the people,” Moi said.
Kikwai died Saturday after battling the deadly virus for two weeks. She had been admitted to Siloam Hospital in Kericho.
She has been deputy to Governor Paul Chepkwony since 2013.
