Mandago Preaches the Gospel of Avocados, Macadamia in Uasin Gishu

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has renewed his call to residents to diversify agricultural practices, urging farmers to try different crops away from maize.

The governor urged residents invest in Avocados, Coffee, Macadamia farming to avoid relying much on maize.

“As you prepare the land for planting, set a portion for Avocado, Coffee and Macadamia…we are encouraging our farmers to venture into commercial horticulture and floriculture,” he said.

Most residents in the county farm maize although the sector has been hit by low prices and an unsteady market that has frustrated farmers.

The governor spoke in Moiben sub-county.
