A man found breaking Covid-19 curfew rules was forced to do 300 squats by the police and died a day later.
The man, identified as Darren Manaog Peñaredondo, 28, from Philippines, left his home in General Trias, a city in Cavite province, which is under lockdown due to rising Covid-19 cases, to buy water, his family told CNN affiliate CNN Philippines.
He was stopped by police and told to do “pumping exercises” 100 times on April 1, 2021.
Police made him repeat the exercises, meaning he did about 300.
He developed complications a day later and collapsed. Attempts to resuscitate him did not bear fruits.
