Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has lifted the 6pm to 6am curfew imposed on Kapedo, Baringo County following escalating banditry attacks in the area.
Dr Matiang’i said security had improved necessitating the move.
“Following the lapse of the 30 day curfew period imposed on Kapedo and the successful restoration of peace in the area, I have today directed the lifting of the 6pm to 6am curfew,” said the CS.
He added the nationwide 10pm to 4am curfew will remain in place.
The curfew was imposed after a deadly attack on a security convoy that led to the killing of GSU Deputy Operations Director Emadau Temako two months ago.
The government has also been conducting a security operation during the period.
The CS said they had recovered 53 illegal firearms.
